The project, with a total cost of $ 127,600, will provide services to more than 832 beneficiaries.

The request:

Dear Jean and Fatima,

I hope your health goes well with all the humanitarian projects you are involved in.
Thank you for the important financial support you have given us with your Rotary Club of Montreal, your Fondation Coup de Coeur, Fondation Louise Grenier  and the Drummondville Rotary Club for our latest water project in Pamezul, Guatemala. I have another project again in two villages also in Guatemala (Vista Hermosa & San Vicente villages) which have 140 families for a total of 842 beneficiaries and I have a small lack of funds which would be of the order of $ 2,000. I thought that with the large network of partners that you have, you could help us again.
In those villages, people work primarily on agriculture, a few on their own land and many others on rented land. Some work as day laborers on other farms, receiving $55 monthly per family. A few can grow enough of their crops to sell the surplus. The major crops of corn and beans are primarily for the families’ consumption and some families grow potatoes and sweet peas.
To start the project, the village members purchase the land on which natural springs are located to provide the potable water. A reinforced concrete distribution tank with a capacity of 15,000 gallons will be constructed at an elevation of several hundred feet above the households, thus using gravity to distribute the water to every house. PVC piping will be installed in trenches dug by the men and women terminating with a spigot at each of the 140 families.

Looking forward to receive a positive response from you, we remain your loyal Partners in Rotary.
