The Request
Hello Mr. Jean Gagnon,
It’s been some time since we last gave any news. Since last year, our superiors sent us to Isiro to continue our apostolate in teaching.
At the moment, I am in Dungu for the annual retreat of all the Brothers in Congo. While speaking with the parish priest of Mbengu Parish, Father Hermann Belenandu, he shared with me the difficulties they face in accessing drinking water.
It is a rural parish, with a total of about 3,000 people without resources living around the parish. The main activity is agriculture. They are exposed to waterborne diseases because of the poor quality of the water they use for drinking and household needs. We propose to capture and develop a spring for them. They could organize themselves to supply local materials such as stones and sand.
I estimate the cost of the work at $5,000.
Thank you in advance for what you will do to help us provide water to these village families.
Here are some photos of their water source that the parish priest sent me.
Fraternally,
Brother Jean Marie AMISIA
