Food banks
Québec
Canada
On December 18, 2024, two representatives of Fondation Coup de Cœur met with Mr. Martin Munger, CEO of Banque Alimentaire du Québec (BAQ), and Kevin Toudic, to offer an exceptional donation: seven truckloads of bulk potatoes, totaling 350,000 pounds.
However, due to logistical constraints, BAQ was unable to receive the scheduled delivery on January 30, 2025. Fondation Coup de Cœur therefore took the initiative to redistribute this initial shipment directly to various food banks on the South Shore, increasing the total donation to 400,000 pounds of bulk potatoes.
The positive impact of this initiative was such that it inspired Fondation Coup de Cœur to now focus its potato donations exclusively in bulk format, in order to maximize the reach and efficiency of its mission.
It is also worth highlighting that, with:
the donation of 1 million pounds of potatoes offered free of charge to the 19 Moissons of Quebec in the summer of 2024 [(see Project #2504)],
the agreement signed with Banque Alimentaire du Québec on October 8, 2024, for the donation of another 1 million pounds of bagged potatoes [(see Project #2506)],
and this current donation of 400,000 pounds of bulk potatoes,
…Fondation Coup de Cœur will have distributed, between June 2024 and June 2025, over 2,400,000 pounds of potatoes across 1,300 food distribution counters throughout Quebec.
