The project:

Project was aimed at improving the lives of 4 young disadvantaged widows in India through skill development (advance tailoring) training. As superstitions and taboos around widows persist in rural India, they often lead miserable lives or consider suicide. Being poor and illiterate widows have a hard time feeding their children and sending them to school. In this context, project became a great livelihood and empowering opportunity for widows, creating a sustainable solution for their better future.
Donor contribution of $2,000, provided skill training, sewing machines with advance technique, stools, and training material for 4 beneficiaries. Widows who already has some basic tailoring skill were part of this project.
With the good participation of widows and with the dedicated services of Bala Vikasa team and an expert instructor, the project is now successfully completed.
Project brought multiple and sustainable benefits to widows. They are now equipped with advance tailoring skill and knowledge in stitching modern designs. They also gained basic knowledge on business management and marketing techniques to compete in the fast-growing fashion world. These widows are now capable to work and earn increased income. They became self reliant, confident, and courageous and living a new life with dignity, respect in the family and society at large. They can feed well and send their children to school and protect them from early marriages or becoming child labours.
The widows expressed that they are happy and ever grateful to the donor for giving them this timely opportunity during this challenging times of the pandemic.
On behalf of all these widows and their children, we extend our appreciation and big thanks to Mme Luce Baril (FCC)for your kind gesture. You have seen their situation firsthand during your visit to India and now you have enabled them to regain their hope for a better life by giving them an opportunity to establish tailoring business units and to earn more.
Their dream now became a reality!

MERCI! THANK YOU! VANDANAM!
