In the Bono East region of Ghana, repairs or replacements of 181 manual water pumps in 177 villages and 4 schools.

This project, with a total cost of $ 280,140.00, will provide drinking water to more than 89,000 beneficiaries.

The request:

Unlike the majority of West African countries, Ghana has not known a period of conflicts or inter-community tensions for many decades and is becoming, in the eyes of the Western powers, a privileged place for making risk-free investments. On the other hand, the management of the country's economy and politics by the government is considered to be entirely satisfactory in comparison with the surrounding countries, often bruised by corruption and political instability.
In 2018, Eric Adu Gyamfi, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Sunyani East in Ghana, suggested to Walter Hughes of the Rotary Club Rocky Mount in Virginia to undertake a Mega Project to repair and replace manual water pumps in multiple villages in western Ghana. These pumps had broken down due to the fact that during their installation about 5 or 10 years ago, no finance, maintenance or repair committee had been set up to ensure the proper functioning and sustainability of the installations .
This Mega Project, with a total cost of $ 280,140.00 would provide drinking water to more than 89,000 beneficiaries in 177 villages and 4 schools and would have a truly exceptional humanitarian impact.
Walter who had already implemented more than 30 water projects in Ghana during the last 13 years and often, in partnership with the Coup de Coeur Foundation and the Montreal Rotary Club, asked us if we could sponsor this project and also take care of the  financing.
Since our response was positive, the project was undertaken and the proposal was submitted to The Rotary Foundation in April 2020 for approval.
With the immense experience of all our Partners united for the same cause, we are sure to obtain an impressive success for this project in order to help so many people who need it most.
