The request:

Hello Jean and Fatima,

I am presenting you this time with an extraordinary project.
This is a project in Nicaragua for the establishment of artificial reefs which will allow five fishermen's cooperatives in fourteen villages to undertake an aquaculture program (farms) for the lobster fishery.
The integrated lobster aquaculture operation will allow local fishermen to make the transition from unsustainable ocean exploitation to sustainable ocean farming. In addition, the transition to ocean farming will also address many current safety issues that should help reduce the annual number of injuries and deaths due to unsafe diving techniques. Protected artificial reefs will quickly reach full maturity to become incubators for all reefs.
This project, with a total cost of $ 187,000.00 will allow more than 300 fishermen to become self-sufficient, thus allowing them to offer their children the education and dignity they deserve.
You will find attached a complete description of the project.
As we have currently a short fall for an amount of $ 2,800.00 for this project, on behalf of my Rotary Club of Quebec, I come again to call on your Rotary Club of Montreal to provide us with this financial support.

Thank you again for supporting us in such an important and regular way.

Proud Partner in the great Rotary family.
