Dear Jean and Fatima,

Rick Lawrence again! First of all, thank you again for your important financial partnerships in my many projects in Guatemala. 
My new project, still in Guatemala, has as objectives the provision of drinking water, latrines and greywater filters in the village of Chajalajya, Tecpan province.
The installation of a sanitation system will enable indigenous Mayans living in the Guatemalan highlands to prevent constant diarrhea and other serious illnesses that particularly affect children, and Infant mortality in this region is one of the highest in Latin America.
Also, our goal is to educate residents about personal hygiene including hand washing before handling food and eating, and the use of sanitary facilities and regular and appropriate body care.
Village members will benefit from a clean water system distributed to 83 families, gray water filters to 85 families and latrines for 75 families.
The project site is about an hour drive from La Antigua, which is relatively similar to the other 13 projects that have been completed in as many villages and have also received previous global grants from the Rotary Foundation. Involved Rotarians will visit the village at the beginning, middle and the end of the project, and assist in training sessions on hygiene and sanitation.
