The project:

In the village of Ivan Vasquez in Peru, set up of a water treatment system equipped with solar energy and the construction of a building that houses it.
This complete system will reach a total cost of $ 60,000 and will provide drinking water to more than 500 people.

The request:

Hi Jean and Fatima,

It was very nice to hear from you about a 200,000$ project in Peru. Please keep us posted on your plans and I will discuss with our team to see if we can fit it into our program.
Please see attached the proposal for Ivan Vasquez safe Water project. The community of Ivan Vasquez is made up of (73) families that are currently collecting water from several shallow hand- dug wells.  The assessment indicates contamination in each of these wells.  Community members are engaged and excited about the potential project as evidenced by interviews during the assessment.  Note examples below:
1- “The water we consume today does not cost us money, however when our children get sick we have to purchase medicine.  I believe that when we begin to consume safe water, our children’s health will improve…[and] they will be much more eager to study and play.”
Asusena Ochoa Salas, Mother.

2-“We are always complaining of stomach pains because of the polluted water we consume.  Having clean water will avoid the expense of going to the hospital…We want this project to reach our community, so we will work hard to take care of it and maintain it well.”
Jose Dias Pina, Merchant.
You can see from the pictures that their water source is deplorable. While this is a small community and the cost per family is higher than other projects, what price can we put on their lives?  We have commitments for $20,000 with match and still need $28,000.

Your support of this project will be greatly appreciated.
