Hello Jean and Fatima,

Following our yesterday meeting, I am requesting a grant of $ 10,000 for a $ 99,800 water project in the village of Waripercca in Peru.
This village is located in the Department of Ayacucho in the Andes, at 3550 meters altitude and 600km from Lima.
Ayacucho is one of the cataloged areas of extreme poverty according to the government agency FONCODES. The chronic malnutrition rate for children aged 6 to 9 is 66%. Most of the houses have an earth floor and cooking is done with wood.
The community has about 80 families for a total of 560 inhabitants.
The houses are rather scattered around the central square, which will entail additional costs for the water to reach each house and five public premises.
Families practice survival agriculture or self-consumption (potatoes, barley, wheat, quinua, oca, etc.) as well as breeding (cows, sheep and alpacas).
The community of Waripercca, through the Municipality of Vinchos District, has requested the support of the Wings of Hope to provide a system of access to drinking water in a permanent and sustainable way.
Water will be captured from a main source at the place called Hatunhuaycco located just over 4km from the village; a second capture will be built halfway between the main source and the village.
The water will be conveyed by gravity and the flow of the source has already been measured: 3.6 liters / sec. A new 10m3 tank will be built and the current two tanks of 5 and 15m3 will be renovated.
A water chlorination system will be installed on the main tank.
Home connections will be installed for each of the 80 houses and public premises: primary school, kindergarten, community hall, future health post.
Finally, a concrete sink will be built for each family in order to facilitate the work of mothers and the proper use of water.
The first meetings have already been held in Waripercca with the entire community to explain the functioning and responsibilities of each of the stakeholders. The community has already accepted the two main conditions:
1. The formation of a drinking water committee with the presence of women on this committee.
2. Acceptance to provide all unskilled labor during the project. This contribution of labor is valued at $ 29,000.

I hope that once again you will help us financially to realize an important project which will be so vital for so many families in serious difficulties.

Thank you again for your continued support.
