The request:

I come with this message to convey my sincere thanks for the assistance you granted us with last year to drill a drinking water bore hole in Kinshasa / Bibwa. Drilling works perfectly. The housewives are happy to have drinking water nearby.
For this year, I am sending you this new Drinking Water Drilling Project in BUNIA in the north-east of the country where I live. This project aims to provide drinking water to the students of the Jean-Marie de la Mennais school in Bunia as described below:
1. Introduction:
The School Complex Jean-Marie de la Mennais is a technical computer school of the Brothers of Christian Instruction located in Bankoko district in the city of Bunia (DRC). It is a new mixed school that is in its third year of experience and is working to put in place an appropriate structure to ensure good training for children.
2. Presentation of the project:
A water supply system within the school is essential and very urgent. The school has an enrollment of 903 students this year including 450 girls. This number is growing every year and we expect to reach 1 500 students in the coming years. These students lack drinking water to quench their thirst and wash their hands, which is why we thought we must have water on site at school. This project will therefore benefit 903 students, 25 teachers more
1 800 people from the surrounding area for a total of 2 728.
3. General objective:
Avoid epidemics (cholera, typhoid fever, diarrhea, etc.) and the risk of contaminations due to lack of water to wash your hands.
4. Duration of work:
Work will begin upon receipt of funds and will last approximately three months.
5. Sustainability:
The school management will take the necessary steps to protect and maintain the water supply facilities on a daily basis. The Brothers, who are in charge of the school, will form a committee with the parents to monitor and maintain the equipment. The advantage of this project is that all equipment is available on the market and the staff is able to do regular maintenance of the facilities. All these facts will ensure the sustainability of the project.
6. Budget:
The total cost of the project is $ 22,000.00 Cdn and we have a commitment from the local community that will take a share of the costs of $ 6,000.00. Also, Rescue Missions of Quebec promised us a donation of $ 7,500.00, which leaves us a shortfall of $ 8,500.00.
Thank you for everything you do to help us provide clean drinking water. Water is life.
Be assured of our full cooperation and appreciation for your involvement in the well-being of our students, their parents and fellow citizens.

cordially
